Striped woven cotton fabric

 

Fabric for ceremonial or festivity tunic, tiddy akbir lehrir, for women in Siwa oasis in Egypt.

Material: cotton

Technique: warp-faced rep weave, with red, orange, white and black warp and black weft.

There are other variations in colours.

Place of origin: handwoven at the workshop in Kerdassa, Egypt

For a tunic, the fabric uses for the front and back piece and side panel.
